There is a need in the DoD, specifically for a hybrid space architecture, for a network that can communicate across government and commercial networks with variable trust protocols. In addition, the network should enable dynamic data routing, are disruption tolerant, and could support the demonstration of communicating across disparate government and commercial networks
The Solution
The ATLAS Space solution describes a federated ground system that enables Hybrid Space Architecture operators to use civil and commercial ground entry points via multi-path links without considering which ground station or satellite unique protocols will be used. The solution addresses the Multi-Path Communications aspect of a hybrid space architecture. The "Freedom" server described can also optimize ground station availability while reducing the number of human operators required and the solution described that elements of this technology are in use now
