We are the only DoW organization focused on accelerating the adoption of commercial and dual-use technology to solve operational challenges at speed and scale.

We award scalable contracts to companies offering solutions to national security challenges across a variety of technology areas.
Connect to a powerful network, with speed
We are changing how the Department of War (DoW) approaches commercial technology adoption. Through our agile processes, contract authorities, and diverse team of experts, we have reduced the time it takes the DoW to identify a problem, prototype a commercial solution, and implement it into the field to two years or less.
We and our sister organizations are the front door to DoW. Our regional outreach strategy enables us to lower the barriers to entry by proactively connecting DoW to companies, labs, accelerators, academic partners, and investors in states where the DoW is currently underrepresented as a customer.
Our DoW partners represent every Service and we engage at the highest levels to identify national security challenges that can be solved with commercial technology. Companies on contract with us are backed by top-tier investors and represent $20.1 billion in private investments.
We Match Challenges with Solutions We give innovative businesses and startups the opportunity to solve high-impact national security problems.
We Speak Your Language Our team has deep experience across defense and tech to easily and quickly navigate to a contract award.
We Leverage Fast, Flexible Contracts We provide a quick path to revenue, potential access to large-volume contracts, and lower barriers to entry into the defense market.
We're Focused on Impact We pursue innovative solutions and work closely with DoW partners and companies to deliver results and support technology adoption in 12-24 months.

The investment of the U.S. government through DIU has been a clear win-win. Access to testing resources accelerated Joby’s efforts to mature and scale our technology, and the DoD gained insight into an emerging technology class as well as opportunities for early adoption—helping to position the United States as the global leader in the eVTOL industry.
