Establishing an Integrated Framework to Deliver Commercial Technology to the Indo-Pacific Theater
In August 2023, Admiral John Aquilino, Commander of the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), established the Joint Mission Accelerator Directorate (JMAD) to better connect INDOPACOM’s critical mission needs with commercial industry capabilities as well as ongoing programs across the defense innovation community.
Adm. Aquilino requested DIU appoint a JMAD Deputy Director and Chief Technology Officer to serve at INDOPACOM headquarters in Hawai’i, which will better enable addressing warfighter needs with speed and deepen its relationships with regional partners. DIU personnel are embedded with INDOPACOM to deliver strategic impact from commercial technology to meet the pacing threat.
