Michael "Rags" Seltzer

Acting Director, Autonomy Portfolio

Mountain View, CA

Mike is the acting director of DIU’s Autonomy portfolio, which seeks to accelerate the Department of Defense’s  adoption of autonomous technologies  across all domains.  Mike is also an active program manager, leading DIU’s efforts in ‘fighter’ autonomy, supporting multiple Air Force Vanguard programs seeking to advance missionized autonomy for contested environments.  Mike is an activated reservist and based at the Mountain View, CA location.

Prior to joining DIU, Mike was the Director of Operations for the F-35 Weapons Instructor Course, having been selected as initial cadre for the newly developed unit.  His USAF experience also includes a tour as an F-16 WIC instructor and multiple combat tours while stationed at various F-16 units including Hill AFB, UT and Osan AB, ROK.  Mike also has commercial experience as an Operations and Investment Associate at Alpine Investors, a growth stage private equity firm in San Francisco. 

Mike has a Masters in Management from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business as well as a Masters in Operations from the USAF’s Air University and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Sciences from the University of California, Berkekley.
